The Express Road A3 starts from the most popular tourist destination in Macedonia – Ohrid and it ends at the old monastery St. Naum. The road Ohrid – St. Naum will provide an excellent connection throughout the coast of Lake Ohrid and its numerous touristy towns and attractive sites. It is approximately 30 km in length and it is a connection to the Macedonian-Albanian border. The current road does not support the increased traffic volume during tourist season (May-September) and as a result, there are frequent bottle necks and traffic jams. As such, Express Road A3 is of out most importance to the tourism industry in the country.
The assigned section is the area between Ohrid and the little town of Pehstani,14 km in length .
The speed and cross section based on the previous calculation is defined to be:
– Speed up to 80 km/hour
– Carriageway profile is 11.40 meters
– Maximal planum is 14.90 meters
As a part of Main design are design, 3 galleries, 4 interchanges including
8 underpasses and overpasses and 13 bridges.
Additionally, all culverts, retaining walls and other structures are design.

– Horizontal and vertical signalization and equipment of the road
– Electrical Lighting
– Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) – according to EBRD standards
